Out of 424 eligible Division III institutions, the Duhawks finish the year in the top 50 in a number of categories. Enjoy!!!!

Duhawk senior shooting gaurd Lindsay Bava added another accolade to her growing list Tuesday when she earned Third Team All-West Region Honors, as announced by D3hoops.com.

The team, voted on by Sports Information Directors in each region, was selected from 676 nominations. The All-Region teams include three teams of five players (two teams if the region has 40 or fewer teams), a player of the year, rookie of the year and coach of the year.

The honor marks Bava’s second consecutive year of All-Region status (she was first team one year ago). The Downers Grove, IL native earned First Team All-Iowa Conference honors for the third straight season and is a two-time ESPN the magazine Academic All-District representative.

The Montini graduate led Loras in scoring (15.5 ppg) and ranked 6th in the IIAC in scoring and was among the league leaders in FG%, FT%, and 3 point %.

Bava was one of three Iowa Conference players recognized as an All-Region performer. Buena Vista senior Margo Muhlbauer was a first team selection and sophomore Stacy Schutjer of Simpson appeared on the second team.

All nominees are eligible for the D3hoops.com All-America teams, which will be announced on Saturday, March 20 at the Final Four in Bloomington, Ill.

2009-10 All IIAC Women’s Basketball Team

The Loras College women’s basketball team learned Wednesday that seniors Lindsay Bava and Lisa Morrissey were once again selected to the All-Iowa Conference teams.

Bava makes her third consecutive appearance on the first team to close her career. The Downers Grove, Illinois native was fourth in the IIAC in scoring this season at 15.5 points per game and leaves the program in the fourth spot on the all time scoring list (1,482). She is far and away the program’s best free throw shooter in terms of both percentage and total shots made. She’s also on the top ten list in three point shooting.

Morrissey, a native of Urbandale, Iowa, was once again among the best in the league this season in assists (3rd), free throw shooting (4th), steals (4th), and assist-to-turnover ratio (3rd). She was also second in the league in minutes per game, averaging just over 30. She also leaves among the program’s best free throw shooters, and is second all time on the Duhawks’ assists (397) and steals (209). Morrissey was a second team pick last year as well.
